Prayer at HTC

Prayer is vital to our life as a church.  It is the main way in which we express our dependence on God, seek His guidance, and ask for His blessing on all that we do in His name.  Prayer is prominent in our services and is an important part of all small groups where we pray for mission partners as well as for individual needs.

Morning Prayer

Each Monday to Friday morning from 8:45-9:15am in the Prayer Room.  This is a very special time when we gather together to read the Bible and pray for a range of topics in the church, community and world.

Monday World and national news focus
Tuesday The sick and bereaved and those who care for them as family, friends, volunteers or professionals
Wednesday Children, young people, families and schools
Thursday HTC’s Mission Partners
Friday The mission and work of the church

Weekend Prayer Events

We hold occasional weekend prayer events, such as the prayer room which was set up in Emmanuel Hall during our Life to the Full launch weekend on 17/18 January 2015, with lots of creative ways for praying for both adults and children. Prayer activities included prayer for world and local community needs, Life to the Full events and our own deeper walk with the Lord.

Prayer Days

Linda Morgan, HTC’s Director of Prayer, runs regular Quiet Days throughout the year, to help us to deepen our personal relationship with God.

Sunday Prayer Ministry

After each Sunday service there is an opportunity for anyone to pray in confidence with a member of our prayer ministry team, if they have something or someone on their heart for which they would like to receive prayer.  There is a specific opportunity each month for individual Prayer for Healing at our 11:15am Holy Communion service.

Weekend Retreats

We have an annual opportunity to ‘get off the wheel’ to reflect, pray and relax for the weekend in the peaceful surroundings of a residential retreat centre.  Our retreat weekends usually take place at St Cuthman’s retreat centre in Coolham, Sussex, a beautiful location at the back of the South Downs. Further details from Linda Morgan, HTC’s Director of Prayer.

Mission Partner Focus

Mission Partners come and update us on their needs for prayer, often during a meal or special visit.  Recently we have heard from the Charles family and Bishop Samuel of the Rhema Partnership.  More of these events will follow; they are really helpful times which can help us support our mission partners in prayer.

The latest news from our mission partners can be found on our Mission News page.
