Pastoral Care & Seniors Administrator - Part Time

Purpose:

To provide support for the Pastoral Care and Seniors Minister in ensuring that the wide variety of tasks associated with Pastoral Care, Connections, both at HTC and nationally, are carried out effectively.

Employed by: Claygate Parochial Church Council (PCC)

Reports to: Pastoral Care and Seniors Minister

Involvement: A member of the staff team.

Primary Responsibilities

Duties will vary from week to week, but essentially responsibilities will include the following:

  • Be responsible for all admin tasks relating to Pastoral Care and Connections
  • Help find, brief and organise volunteer helpers
  • Maintain the databases for this area of ministry including Seniors, members with Pastoral needs and volunteers
  • Plan and organise both the regular and occasional events for this area of ministry including off-site services
  • Organise transport to church events for Seniors through communication with Elmbridge Council and volunteer drivers
  • Provide administrative support to the Pastoral Assistants including aranging home, nursing home and hospital visits
  • Organise and order resources as needed
  • Provide meeting support for this area of ministry including setting agendas, arranging, taking notes and following up on actions
  • Ensure that Safeguarding needs are met and Risk Assessments are kept and maintained
  • Arrange personalised messages/gifts for members and volunteers
  • Organise the updating of publicity materials (web and printed) as necessary
  • Organise and provide admin support for Connections Conferences and other training as required
  • Play an active part in relevant teams
  • Be available to offer technical support to Pastoral Care and Seniors Minister

Person Specification

The role requires a committed Christian.

The post requires a high degree of confidentiality and we are looking for someone who has the following attributes:

  • Good pastoral skills with the ability to relate easily and sensitively to a wide range of people
  • A clear vision and heart for Pastoral Care and Connections
  • Highly computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Well developed organisational skills and the ability to work independently and to deadlines
  • Awareness and safeguarding issues in relation to this area of ministry
  • The ability to work using your own initiative when required, as well as to work to the requirements of the Pastoral Care and Seniors Minister
  • Flexible and personable with a proven ability to deal with a varied and pressured environment

As a church, we are committed to the appropriate development of every team member. Funding will be provided for appropriate training and development.

Hours

This is part time role (from 20 hours per week) on days to be agreed.

Disclosure and Barring Service

The applicant will need to have Enhanced DBS Disclosure to take up this post.

Salary

£10.36 per hour
