The vision of the trust is to support the training of men and women for Christian mission, ministry and service. It is rooted in the words of Jesus in Matthew 9:38 ‘Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’ Recognising that all disciples have a calling to serve in God’s mission, we nevertheless believe that the mission of God is blessed when people receive training and develop skills which can be used in whole-life service and ministry. The aim of the trust is to enable those people whom God is calling to receive that training and develop the necessary skills for gospel ministry.
The trust has its focus on the parish of Claygate, in two particular ways:
Specifically, our aims are:
The trustees are Mark Chapman (Chair), Bill Lowe (Treasurer), Gillian Hall (Secretary), Philip Plyming (Vicar of Holy Trinity Church), Anna Lise Gordon, CJ Hamper, John Smith. The Incumbent and church wardens of Holy Trinity Church are ex officio trustees.
The following are examples of people the CCMT has supported through grants:
We welcome applications for all grants that fit within the aims of the trust in supporting the training of men and women for Christian mission, ministry and service, with a particular focus on the parish of Claygate.
To apply for a grant, please read our Grant making Policy to check whether your application meets our criteria for qualification. If it does, please complete an application form and send it to the secretary of the Trust.
We welcome donations to the trust, whether through a one-off gift or a bequest. Please contact our treasurer if you are interested in helping us in this way.
All gifts to charities in wills are tax-free because gifts to your church and other charities are deducted from the value of your estate when inheritance tax (IHT) is calculated. Currently (2014-2015 tax year), IHT is payable on estates worth more than £325,000 at a rate of 40%. Moreover, if you leave gifts to charity (including churches) in your will totalling 10% (or more) of the value of your estate, the rate of IHT you pay will be only 36%. Inheritance tax can be complicated, and you are advised to seek specialist tax advice if your estate is large or your affairs are complex.
